Scale affects our perception of the world.
The film highlights how scale is embedded in sound and how humans experience it. It takes only a slight nudge and you know something is wrong. I intend to highlight how the texture of sound and perceived correctness or sense we can make out of it viscerally affects our emotions at every moment of the film.
Normally we experience life with all our senses intact, but film is different; it is completely visual and aural and when they seem misaligned, we are drawn to the complexity that is introduced and we immediately try to figure it out.
In addition, my selection of specific video clips and audio tracks emphasizes the scale of health as a human concern– how it has received both too much attention (bomb scare drills and the era of homophobia) and too little attention (nutritional value and source of food); the way in which issues have been blown out of proportion does not relate to their relevance.
